Great in US - terrible in Italy
I purchased this Garmin nüvi 770 GPS Navigator and Personal Travel Assistant a month before my trip to Europe and tried it in Ohio after going to the Garmin site and installing all the upgrades - it worked really well and seemed to be easy to use. However, when I went to Italy - it was close to useless! It took forever to start up, would get us within 300 - 600 feet of an address but often the wrong road! It led us to a highway "entry point" that had been closed for 7 years - but the final straw was when at 4am on a cold, rainy dark morning it led us onto a highway going the wrong way!! I would suggest that you not buy this particular model if going to Italy!
My Husband Loves His Garmin
I purchased this GPS system for my husband's birthday and he loves it. He would, however, like for the unit to be voice-activated even though our kids love the English accent.
We would recommend this unit to anyone interested in purchasing a GPS system.
France & England
Recently traveled to France and drove from Paris to Mont St Michel then to Calais. We arrived after dark and would not have found our Hotel without the Garmin 770. This device gave two senior women the courage to rent a car and go for it. It was great for looking up musuems and points of interest, saved us the hassle of carrying guide books. Sandra Barber
